It’s finally Spring! And not just according to the calendar…after a year of “wintery” lockdowns and fear, it’s a new season for all of us as we start to get out and about again at last. And there’s no doubt you’ll be taking your best friend with you, too!

Just as we’ll be buying fashionable new outfits to jumpstart this new lease on life, our thoughts will also turn to Spring dog clothes for our little ones.

And pet fashion has never been more popular. Period. And it’s probably all due to Covid-19…

Why Beautiful Designer Dog Clothes are Here to Stay

Delightful, daring, and dazzling…designer dog clothes are growing in popularity

To prove the point, when the 2020 Met Gala (one of fashion’s biggest nights out in New York) was canceled due to the pandemic, The Late Late Show’s James Corden ran a “Pet Gala” instead – and devoted pet owners from all over the country sent in videos of their little ones dressed to the nines. It made for cheery viewing when we surely needed it.

(If you want to check some of them out, here’s the video where James reviews the contestants with fashion stylist Brad Goreski. So fun!)

But there are stats to prove the point, too. The Guardian newspaper in the UK took a look at clothes for dogs in the last year and found out some interesting things:

“Call it a collective pandemic meltdown, but while the fashion industry faces falling sales and grapples with its cultural position, labels such as Versace and Thom Browne have all released pet apparel,” the paper states. “Sales of pet clothing went up in the pandemic – according to eBay there has been a 45% increase in searches this year.” Wow!

The newspaper also said: “The online luxury fashion store Ssense has collaborated with designers such as Ashley Williams and Marine Serre for an exclusive pet-specific range.”

To underline the point they quote Brigitte Chartrand, the vice-president of womenswear buying at Ssense as saying: “There’s a growing interest for customers to reflect their own individual style and match it with their dog’s through clothing.”

women’s collection – how about matching couture dresses for you AND your dog? Why not?

I don’t think this is surprising to anyone. During lockdowns, quarantines, and working from home we all became closer to our pets – and I’m sure enjoyed ordering beautiful accessories and dog clothes online to dress them up in. It surely helped to pass the time and created stronger bonds between humans and their pets.

FashionUnited, the international fashion industry network, is drawing the same conclusions. Their article (well worth the read) entitled Petwear: The emerging market in the fashion industry asks:

“What do Hunkemöller, H&M, River Island, Primark, Hema, and Ralph Lauren all have in common? All these brands have made clothing for dogs. More and more brands are venturing into the market of our loyal four-legged friends, a market that is constantly growing.”

They add: “In fact, the pet clothing business is so profitable that there are labels making clothing exclusively for dogs and cats. Famous cats such as Karl Lagerfeld’s Choupette, and Jason Wu’s Jinxy and Peaches, prove how animals can play a big role in a person’s life.”

And let’s not forget the celeb who may have started a lot of this off…Paris Hilton! She carried her beloved chihuahua Tinkerbell with her everywhere she went, sparked a trend for dogs in designer bags, and truly proved how pets can become a part of our identity. Chloe loves her Louis Vuitton-inspired carrier by the way!

Practical Pizzazz

But you don’t have to be a star to join in the fun. Dressing up your little one in adorable dog outfits gives you just as much pleasure. It also gets you compliments when you’re out and about with him.

And there’s even more to outfits for dogs than the runway factor! High fashion can also be practical – when you combine classy looks with functionality, you’re showing the world just how much you care for your cute little canine.

So what are you waiting for? Now you know it’s all the rage, it’s time to get ready for Spring and find some new dog outfits or accessories that will give your baby the edge as we leave Winter behind and look forward to brighter days ahead…in so many ways. As you’re dressed to impress, your perfect pup should be as well. It’s all about the pizzazz!

Chloe’s Spring Collection – Doggie Clothes for Every Occasion

With all this in mind, Chloe pulled out a Spring Collection for everyone. There’s a little bit of everything here. But it’s ALL designer-inspired to make your baby the best-dressed in the neighborhood while protecting him at the same time.

So let’s dive in!

There can still be a nip in the air as we enter the new season, even if the sun is shining and the sky is blue! But with Spring dog clothes such as cute Ts or sweatshirts, your furbaby will be ready for a walk in the park or around the block. Or even a visit to a friend’s house for a little outdoor playtime.

Bright and colorful Ts and sweats serve to protect your baby from bugs and help to keep his coat clean – that can mean fewer trips to the groomer! He’ll probably thank you for that!

And what about nighttime? Spring Ts and shirts can also double as soft and cozy pajamas for cool nights when he wiggles out from his blanket.

Rain gear, of course, is essential all the time to keep him dry, or to stop the wind bothering him if he’s riding with you in the car with the roof down. A jaunty matching hat will seal the deal.

For longer walks, or day trips, special gear will be essential. Spring coats are “in” and tailor-made backpacks and fanny packs will set off any outfit. How about new leashes, collars, and harnesses to get you off on the right foot?
